Why Horses?

  • Horses do not lie and you cannot lie to a horse.

  • Horses survival depends on staying ahead of predators and all of their senses are designed to help them do so.

  • Acute senses give horses accurate insight into humans which allows them to give instant and unbiased feedback.

  • Horses only live in the moment and cannot judge the past or speculate on the future.

  • Horses naturally seek to live in harmony within their herd.

How Our Journey Began
Sarah Mercy (2 of 2)_edited.jpg

It has long been a dream of mine to work with horses, but I never seemed to fit into any of the existing boxes. I enjoyed riding and volunteering at horse rescues, but they didn't quite hit the mark.

I found many horse organizations out there that did therapy, but I also knew that I wanted to do something different. Looking around, I noticed that there weren't very many non-horsemanship programs for people who simply wanted to work on improving and growing themselves but didn't fit into the boxes required by some of the therapy programs. After years of research and exploring different options, I finally became a Certified Facilitator through Equine Connection. This unique program marries together my two passions: my love of horses and my desire to help people.

In these programs, the horse is allowed to speak honestly. Instead of doing as he's told in a horsemanship program, he uses his natural senses and wisdom to show us humans ourselves. These powerful internal revelations then gives us a choice. We can ignore them, or we can acknowledge them and find a way to move forward in our personal lives and create harmony.

I am continually learning from these amazing creatures. In the horse/human relationship, there is no such thing as perfection, only progress. It's a constant state of learning and the work is never done, but there is growth and that growth allows us to create, improve, overcome challenges, and navigate life. This is what our workshops offer. A chance to learn about ourselves, grow personally, and find the next right step on our life journey.

I would be honored to be a part of your personal growth. Please join us at the barn to connect with our insightful horses and yourself. We look forward to meeting you.
